You need your original passport (valid for at least 6 months, with 2 blank pages), one recent 2x2 colour photo on a white background, your National ID card or birth certificate, a recent utility or landline bill (not older than 6 months), a bank statement or other proof of funds, your medical reports and prescriptions, the invitation letter from the Indian hospital, and proof of profession.
The IVAC processing fee is 1500 Taka per applicant. The same fee applies at all 15 Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh.
The Indian hospital issues the invitation letter through the Indian Government's AYUSH portal. The hospital needs the patient's passport copy, contact details and address, attendant passport copies, the nearest Indian High Commission, recent medical reports (from the last 12 months) and the hospital, specialty and doctor you plan to visit. Bangla Health Connect's Dhaka office arranges this for Apollo Hospitals India free of charge.
Since April 2025, the Indian medical visa online application asks for a Medical Visa Reference Number. The Indian hospital generates this number on the AYUSH portal when it issues your invitation letter, so you need the letter before you fill in the online form.
Yes. Up to 2 attendants can be named on the invitation letter and travel on a medical attendant visa. Each attendant needs a separate online application. A minor patient must be accompanied by a parent or guardian as an attendant.
No. Once the hospital uploads your details to the AYUSH portal, no changes or corrections are possible and the hospital cannot issue another letter. Check that names, passport numbers and address exactly match your official documents, and that the details match your online visa application.
After you submit the online application at indianvisa-bangladesh.nic.in, print the form showing your Application ID (it starts with BGD) and take it with all your documents to your nearest IVAC. There are 15 centres, including Dhaka (Jamuna Future Park), Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barisal.
